PDF tools
Tidy lecture slides before you upload them: merge several files, pull out the pages you need, or shrink a large file.
How to use the PDF tools
- 1 Pick Merge, Extract pages or Compress.
- 2 Choose your file or files, and set the order, pages or compression level.
- 3 Download the result.
Common student uses
Merge a week of lecture PDFs into one file, extract only the chapters your exam covers, or compress a scanned handout so it uploads quickly. Smaller, tidier files also make it faster to turn slides into practice questions in Quizard.
Which tool for what
Merge combines several PDFs in the order shown. Extract keeps only the pages you list. Compress shrinks scanned or image-heavy files using Ghostscript on our server, with three levels from best quality to smallest file.
Privacy
Merge and extract run in your browser and never upload your file. Only Compress sends the file to our server, and it is deleted shortly after.
PDF tools FAQ
What PDF tools are available and how do they work?
Our suite has three tools: Merge combines several PDFs in the order you choose, Extract pages keeps only the pages or ranges you list, and Compress shrinks large files on our server. Merge and extract run entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
What's the maximum file size limit for PDF processing?
Compression accepts PDFs up to 20 MB, which is enforced on our server. Merge and extract run locally, so their limit is your device’s memory. Very large lecture decks usually work fine, but split them first if your browser struggles.
How does PDF merging work and what formats are supported?
Merge combines several PDFs into one document while keeping each file’s pages, fonts and layout. You can move files up or down before merging, and the whole process runs in your browser.
What splitting options are available for PDF documents?
Use Extract pages and type the pages you want to keep, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. The result is one new PDF with just those pages in order. To split a long file into chapters, extract each range in turn.
How effective is the PDF compression and what levels are available?
Our server-side PDF compression offers three levels: Low (high quality, minimal compression), Medium (balanced quality and size), and High (maximum compression). Typical results: text-heavy PDFs see 20-40% reduction, image-heavy PDFs can achieve 50-80% compression. We use professional-grade Ghostscript technology for optimal results while maintaining readability.
Are these PDF tools secure for confidential business documents?
Yes, our tools prioritize security. PDF merge and split operations happen entirely in your browser - files never leave your device. For compression, files are processed on our secure servers and automatically deleted within 10 minutes. All processing includes automatic cleanup, making our tools safe for confidential business documents, legal files, and personal information.
Your whole semester, in one study workspace.
Quizard turns your own lecture slides into questions and flashcards that cite the slide, and shows what you have not covered.
