Anki to CSV
Drop an Anki .apkg file to read its notes in your browser, then download them as a spreadsheet.
No file chosen yet.
How to use the Anki to CSV
- 1 In Anki choose File, Export, then Anki Deck Package (.apkg).
- 2 Drop the file here and check the preview.
- 3 Pick CSV or TSV and download the file.
What you get
One row per note, with one column per field and an optional column of tags. Decks that mix note types share the same columns, numbered Field 1, Field 2 and so on, so check the columns if your deck has several note types.
Why convert a deck to CSV
A spreadsheet makes bulk edits easy: fixing a repeated typo, sorting by tag, finding duplicates, or sharing a list with a study group who do not use Anki. You can bring the result back with the CSV to Anki tool.
What is included and what is not
Text and tags are included. Images and audio stay in the .apkg, and scheduling data such as your review history is left out. HTML formatting is stripped unless you tick Keep HTML formatting.
Private by design
The package is opened in your browser, so your deck never reaches our servers. The page downloads a small database reader the first time you open a file.
Anki to CSV FAQ
How do I convert an .apkg file to CSV?
Drop the .apkg file here, choose CSV or TSV and click Download file. Nothing is uploaded.
Can Anki export to CSV by itself?
Anki exports Notes in Plain Text, which is tab separated and works for many jobs. This tool helps when you only have an .apkg, for example a shared deck, or when you want a true comma-separated file without opening Anki.
Does it work with recent Anki versions?
Yes. It reads older packages and the compressed format that recent Anki versions export.
Are images included?
No, only text and tags. A card that holds only an image will appear with an empty field unless you tick Keep HTML formatting, which keeps the image reference.
Can I open the file in Excel?
Yes. Characters outside English display best if you use Data, From Text/CSV in Excel and choose UTF-8, or open the file in Google Sheets.
