Quizard vs Gemini Notebook (NotebookLM)

NotebookLM, which Google now calls Gemini Notebook, is one of the strongest free tools for understanding a pile of sources, and it can generate flashcards and quizzes from them. So the honest question is not which one reads your slides better. It is whether you need a place to explore your material or a system that makes you practise it until the exam. Plenty of students will want both.

NotebookLM is best at

  • Asking questions across many sources, with citations
  • Audio and video overviews of your material
  • Reading and research in one free notebook

Choose NotebookLM if you mainly want to understand and explore your sources, especially across many documents, and quizzes are an occasional extra.

Quizard is best at

  • Turning your own slides into exam-style questions and cards
  • Showing the source slide behind every item
  • Showing which slides you have not covered

Choose Quizard if you want practice as the main job: questions that stay linked to their slide, a daily session that schedules what comes back, and a view of what you have not covered.

When not to use Quizard

If you are writing a thesis, reading across dozens of papers, or just want to talk through a topic or listen to an overview on the bus, Gemini Notebook does that better, and Quizard does not try to.

Using both

Use Gemini Notebook while you are learning the material, then bring the same files to Quizard when it is time to drill them. You upload them once for each, so it costs only a few minutes.
